An External Data Source (EDS) is a connection to an external database. An EDS usually contains data that does not change very much or data that is too large to bring into the Oracle BAM Active Data Cache (ADC).
if we use EDS the data streaming very show.this will not support Active Data in BAM reports.
the Batter way use BAM Adapter in SOA stream like the process into BAM Data Objects and create reports that will give high performance in Active Data.
hope this helps:)
I hope you need to do/change some Microsoft Internet Explorer Settings.Below things you need to do

Open Separate Browser Windows For New URLs
Configure Print Settings
Disable Browser Caching
Hide Address Bar in Oracle BAM Web Applications

Hope this will helpful:)
In Edit View of your report, click on Properties and then go to the Active Data tab. You should see some polling settings. Be sure it is set to polling mode and set the frequency of the polling. This should take care of it.
Does anyone know if alerts can be created on these external data sources. I am able to create a report by creating a external data source and linking it to an external database. I tried to create alerts on these data objects but they don't seem to be working.
see this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/integration.1111/e10224/bam_alerts_dev.htm#CCHFHHFE
