All - I am no DB expert so please bear with me here goes first post ever...
I have a script that queries our server environment and deduces whether or not an Oracle Database Server is running. This works fine returning the database server name and database instance name. I would like to extend this script to find out where Oracle Advanced Compression is enabled.
The catch is that the script does not have database level access and therefore db queries are unable to be run. I would need a thoroughly reliable way of deducing this by reading files.
Can any one advise as to what to search for and where to search for it ?
I have been reading about an variable called ENABLE_OPTION_ADVANCED_COMPRESSION which I believe gets set in init.ora can some one confirm reliability in using this ?
Many thanks !
That parameter is only applicable for Dataguard Redo transport compression.
There are different types of advanced compression.
- OLTP Table Compression
- LOB Compression
- Data Pump Compression
- Fast ZLIB RMAN Compression
- Data Guard Log Transport Compression
