    After rebooting:Listener Refused the connection:ORA12519

      Hi There,

      Let me brief you first how this prob arises:

      I had run RCU for creating database schemas ......for that i have change my system processes to 300 to run RCU properly....

      IT worked fine but after rebooting my system...when i try to connect the db thru sqldeveloper... i am getting the error"Listener Refused the connection:ORA12519,TNS no appropriate service handler"......for which i have consulted the
      ORA-12519 using thin JDBC client this forum one of the post suggested that change process to 150....

      Now i have three points:

      1.Can i also alter my system processes to make it work fine...?
      2.Currently as i am trying to connect thru JDev it is throwing me an exception " Listener refused the connection with the following error:
      ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor"... I guess this prob is due to aforesaid issue and it will work once the instance is up.....
      3.I have shutdown and startup my DB in cmd and it gives me message database mounted and opened .......does it means that db is working fine but still it wont be able to connected coz of process...

          for BASH :
          export ORACLE_BASE=<oracle_base_directory>
          export ORACLE_HOME=<oracle_home_directory>
          export ORACLE_SID=<sid>

          For C shell :
          set ORACLE_BASE=<oracle_base_directory>
          set ORACLE_HOME=<oracle_home_directory>
          set ORACLE_SID=<sid>

          then do the following

          -Wait and try to connect a second time.

          -Check instances are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>

          -Check SID parameter in the connect descriptor.

          -Check for an event in the listener.log file.

            @BALA: is this a issue of listener not identifying a SID or the process...as when connecting thru sqldeveloper and thru Jdeveloper the error thrown are different?....

              ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
              this error stats that you are using wrong SID to connect to your database.
              check tnsnames.ora and listener status..... and use correct name for database...

              provide output of

              tnsping database_name

                  chek listener status and post here

                  cmd>lsnrctl status


                  dynamic registration doesn't need listener.ora file...it will register with the help of pmon process....

                    One More Thing Niket ....when i try to connect my DB thru SQLDEVELOPER i get a different error

                      cmd>username/password@database_name

                      check if it is working or not
                      username/password is sam as you are using in sql developer....

                        Hi Niket,


                        I was doing Hit and Trial and suddenly it got up and connected..

                        what i have done..

                        In connections params,in SID param i have specified the value=ProdDB...now i use param service name instead of SID with same vale and it get connected...


                        I cant figure out what was wrong with earlire settings as it was working previously....

                              i think you have used wrong SID (typo) first time....

                                Thats what i thought at first place......then i remove the connection and then make a new one with the same params with SID ....Again it not worked but it worked with service param :)
