    Hi,

    My old test env have only one diskgroup like follows.
    SQL> select name, type, total_mb, usable_file_mb from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME    TYPE    TOTAL_MB   USABLE_FILE_MB
    ------ ------   ---------- --------------
    TEST   EXTERN   3072       2872

    SQL> select name, path, header_status from v$asm_disk;
    NAME       PATH    HEADER_STATU
    ------     ------- ------------
    TEST_0001 /dev/sdg   MEMBER
    TEST_0000 /dev/sdf   MEMBER
    TEST_0002 /dev/sde   MEMBER

    $ crsctl query css votedisk
    ## STATE File Universal Id File Name Disk group
    -- ----- ----------------- --------- ---------
     1. ONLINE bf85ac5db31a91fb4f2e374b254e4f57 (/dev/sdf) [TEST]
    But I don't recommend put database files and clusterware files together.
    You never can stop this diskgroup..

    Hope this helps,

    Hi asahideO,

    Thanks for your quick responce. But here i have one more doubt. How is it possibel to keep every thing in one DISK Group.

    why i am asking Because at the time of Cluser installation it iwll prompt for asm disk for OCR and VOTING disk.

    But how it is possible to keep those ASM Disks which are assigned at the time of Cluster installation . While Creating ASM DISK GROUPS.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,

    Yes can put ocr, voting disk , datafiles all together in one diskgroup, there is no problem at all, But it's recommend to put ocr and voting disk in one diskgroup, So if any failure so you can recreate the ocr and voting disk, if your ocr and voting disk are in separate diskgroup.
    Suppose your diskgroup having 3 disks :
    your ocr is spread across all disks, like datafiles.
    but in voting disk it will not spread in all disks, it will store in one particular disk.
    According to your question:
    why i am asking Because at the time of Cluser installation it iwll prompt for asm disk for OCR and VOTING disk.
    in 11gr2 clusterware installation it will show you all disks there you have to select and make a diskgroup, then it will stores ocr and voting disk in that particular diskgroup.
    after clusterware installation, if you installaling database it will show you the same diskgroup name, if you don't create the database files in that particular diskgroup then using asmca you can create another diskgroup and then select that diskgroup and then create database over there. if you still not clear, query again.

    Software only installation.

    Can you? Yes.
    Should you? No.

    For test environments that can easily be recreated, this would be just fine. I would not do it for production.

    Hi All,

    Here i am having one more question on solaris

    Reg: 11gR2 Rac on Solaris Sparc 10 64-bit.

    According to my knowledge there in no concept of ASM disks in solaris to create ASM DISK GROUPS.

    Here we will be using RAW partitions to CREATE ASM DISK GROUPS.

    Is it possible to keep OCR,VOTING,REDO LOGS etc all in same DISK GROUP in Solaris.

    At the time of GRID instillatin we will Create ASM DISK GROUP for OCR and VOTING DISK . The Same can be used to Create Datafiles,Control files etc. in SOLARIS also.

    Also please help me how to add a raw partition to ASM DISKGROP if it is full in solaris.

    Thanks & Regards,
