Formatting Graph properties

Hi

I have created a simple bar graph report with 4 columns by year measuring order value.

I want to gradient fill the bars, with 2 colors i want to select i.e blue and red

- I have already selected 'Gradient' in the edit view of the chart.
- i have already selected two colours via Edit graph properties > Style > Style and Conditional Formatting > Bar

Yet when i go back to the compound layout of the analysis nothing has changed

Please advise
