I have a snowflake in my database schema and I am looking for the best way to design it.
The first idea is to create a Materialized View and join this view in the physical layer (in order to leverage star query transformation) with my Fact table and then in the OBIEE BMM layer join the MW to the fact table to form a star schema.
Is there any issues with this approach ?
I have a snowflake in my physical layer (so in my database schema) and the goal is to design it on the BMM Layer in OBIEE as I know that OBIEE wants star schema in the BMM Layer.
So for simplicity, I was wondering if creating a Materialized View will do it ?
You can go with Materialized view as you said.
We can design in BMM such way that you get only star schema that can be by LTS or for a source physically mapping other tables as said in links.
Dimensions with extensions we go for LTS and other cases like normalised we map them.
Hope this helps, if helps mark
