    SiteStudio and placeholder with jsp

    Leo-G
      Hello,
We are currently using SiteStudio and IdocScript to publish Websites.
We would like to switch from HCSP pages using IdocScript to JSP pages.
Everything works find and we are now able to publish using jsp tags.
However, we didn't find out how to specify a placeholder in a JSP page.
For HCSP pages, we have been using the following synthax:
      <!--$wcmPlaceholder("SYZ_PH_MAIN_CONTENT", "placeholderDefinitionDocName=SYZ_PH_GENERIC")-->

We didn't find a similar method for JSP page.
Do you have any idea on how to specify a placeholder in sitetudio in a JSP page?
      Thanks in advance,
      Leo

What version do you use? Also, is it Site Studio or Site Studio for External Applications?

In fact, I'd believe that you should get it for free if you use IDE (Site Studio Designer or JDeveloper for SSXA), because both IDEs have a method to drag&drop a placeholder to a page.

this is SiteStudio Designer 11gR1 11.1.1.4.0.
Normally i use right click>Insert object>placeholder and it creates a IdocScript tag for the placeholder on the page.
It also works in the JSP page, but it also gives an IdocScript tag, which is apparently not recognized inside a JSP page.

              OK. Thanks.

Bad news: see this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10613/g00_glossary.htm#SSDES1215 and http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10613/c01_introduction.htm#BABCCHGF

(I also tried in Site Studio Designer and 'Insert Placeholder' button is grayed out while working on a JSP page template.)

So, in JSPs placeholders work only in SSXA - see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/ssxa_creatingsites.htm#WCMJD1302

                ok thanks ...
So it means that the use of JSP in SiteStudio Designer is very limited in case of Website contribution.
I don't really understand why It hasn't been integrated into designer but in SSXA, it looks kind of the same technology..

A good question, but probably a bit too late.

SSXA was supposed to support "Open WCM" concept (if you deploy few libraries to an application server, you should have WCM functions even in your J2EE web apps). 10gR4 was the first release supporting some of these concepts - then, with 11g SSXA was released and not long later Oracle acquired FatWire (which btw. has a similar concept too - and uses JSPs).

If you really need WCM in JSPs, maybe it's time to start with WebCenter Sites. It has few more pros - e.g. display of pages on mobile devices.
