while importing the dump file into another database.. I have found that constraints fail on some tables because the parent record doesnt exist..
select * from child_table where ID not in (select ID from parent_table); shows the records..
the bad records are different each day..
its obvious that edits to these tables are being made during the export..
is there a better solution for this than shutting down the database during the export?

Depending on what version you are using, you can simply code the flashback_time as:
This will capture the time/date when the job is started and use that for the flashback value. In older versions, I think 10, this would report an error.
