Error: [REP_55102] Failed to connect to repository service [BIA_RS]

Hi All,

I am getting this error "[REP_55102] Failed to connect to repository service [BIA_RS]" when I tried to connect from Informatica Repository Manager client to Informatica Server which is insallted in different machine. When I checked the log file 'pmreplib.log', it's saying "ERROR : REP_51147 [Mon Feb 04 15:21:11 2013] : (7216|7680) Failed to connect to the repository on Host : oracle2go, Port : 6013.".

In the background, since Informatica Server is installed in another machine, we have limitations to access the ports. Hence I have modified all the default Informatica ports by running the below command...
./infasetup.sh UpdateGatewayNode -na oracle2go:5501 -ap 5502 -asp 5503 -sp 5504 -sv 5505

Though I have modified the ports to 5501, 5502, 5503, 5504 and 5505. I am not sure why the client is using the port 6013 and I am not sure from where this port number is coming.
Could anyone please let me know how can I modify this port (6013), so that I can connect Informatica Client.

Thanks,
Harish Nunna

infasetup.sh updates the repository on the server. In the Informatica Client Domain Details was port Number changed. This is a manual change to be done on the Informatica Clients.

Let me know if this helped.

    Hi Jay,

    Thanks for your reply.
Did you mean, we need to configure Domains using Informatica Repository Manager Client. That's where we need to give the port?
If yes, I have given the port 5501 there, while configuring Informatica Domain. But still, I am not sure from where this 6013 is coming from.
Is there any other way that I can set the port numbers in Informatica Clients? Please suggest me.

    Thanks,
    Harish Nunna

    Hi Harish,

On the Informatica Repository Manager Client the gateway and port numbers are provided to connect to the Repository server which is running on the given gateway and port. In your case my understanding was the Informatica Repository is running on the 5501.

So I believe that you have not done the changes to the port number in the Informatica Admin console. So in Informatica Adminconsole's node configurations change the port number to 50xx from 60xx. There would be 2 entries one for the Repository server and for the Integration Services max and min port numbers. Once you change them restart the Informatica Services.

Let me know if this worked.

    Regards,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,

I have tried the same way as you suggested.
Changed the min and max ports to 5501 and 5505 respectively. But when I restart Informaitca Services, looks like its not starting at all. I am not able to open Admin console from the machine where the server is installed.
I noticed that, Informatica Domain itself is not getting started now after changing the min and max ports in the node.
Is there a way that I can make this to original state? Could you please suggest me.

    Thanks,
    Harish Nunna

    Hi Harish,

Can you provide the Service startup logs to narrow down the issue. If you want to restore to the earlier state change the port numbers back original and restart.

Let me know if this helped.

    Jay

    Hi Jay,

Could you please guide me where can I get this Service startup logs? Since I am new to Informatica, I have no idea about it.
To change the port numbers back to original state, first of all Informatica Admin console is not available now. After I changed the min and max ports, Informatica Domain itself not up and running.
    Please guide me.

    Jay,

I have replaced nodemeta.xml and server.xml files from my backup (having the original default ports) and restarted the infa services.
Finally Informatica Domain is working and able to open Informatica Admin Console.
As per my observation, the failure happened because, the http port is 5001 and i put the same value to min port number at node level.
Since both the ports have same values, the failure occurred? Could you please suggest? So that I will try putting some other port value for min port number.

    Thanks,
    Harish Nunna

    Hi Jay,

I tried restaring Informatica Services, but Domain is not opening and I am not able to open Admin Console.
I have tried deleting Domain using below
./infasetup.sh deleteDomain -da oracle2go.us.oracle.com:1521 -du info -dp welcome1 -dt Oracle -ds orcl
    And redefined new domain using...
./infasetup.sh defineDomain -da oracle2go.us.oracle.com:1521 -du info -dp welcome1 -dt Oracle -ds orcl -dn Domain_oracle2go.us.oracle.com -ad Administrator -pd welcome1 -ld "/home/oracle/Informatica/9.0.1/server/infa_shared/log" -nn node01_oracle2go.us.oracle.com -na oracle2go.us.oracle.com:6005 -sp 6006 -ap 6007 -mi 6013 -ma 6113 -sv 6008 -asp 6009 -rf nodeoptions.xml

After restarting the services, still I am not able to open Admin Console.
Could you please suggest me how to resolve this? I am in critical position now. Please help me.

    Thanks,

    Hi Harish,

Can you check if the Repository services are running on the configured port. Basically if the the service is running on the port then we should be able to see the admin console.

    Regards,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,

I have deleted the temp files under the below directories and restarted the services. Its working fine for me.

    -All Files under $infa_home/tomcat/logs
    -All Files/directories under $infa_home/tomcat/temp
-All Files and directories under $Infa_home/tomcat/work
-Only directories under $infa_home/tomcat/webapps. Remember don't delete any war files here. They are reqd. Only delete directories.

After changing the min & max ports to 5901 & 5905 respectively. Only Repository Service is up and running. And I could connect to PowerCenter Client from my laptop to the server.
But, Integration Service is down after changing the min & max ports. And its giving the below error.

Erro: "Request for port number from the domain service failed with the error [[SPC_10054][SPC_10054] No available ports found within the domain port range: [5901] to [5905]]"

    Could you please guide me?

    Thanks,
    Harish Nunna

    Hi Jay,

Finally I have resolved the issue. Actually there was some port issue, I have removed 5901 - 5905 ports and updated with some other ports and restarted the services.

To the actual issue which I have raised in this post was resolved after I have changed min & max ports and restart the services.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers..
