We're using MSAD and users are placed into Native directory groups. All users provisioned from group level. There are numerous groups due to numerous filters per cube.
The copy of the groups listed on the DEV server does not reflect whats on the Prod server, and since users are generally provisioned in Prod, the users access on the test server is a bit old. We're planning on reworking a major cube and we would like an update of our groups and users on the DEV site.
Would exporting the Group list from Prod and importing it into Dev via LCM be enough? Or would i need to take the whole nativedirectory artifact which would give me the list of roles, users and groups?

If you are using LCM and groups are native and users are external provisioned against the groups then you will need to export the groups, if you want the provisioning against applications then you will also need to take that across.
In terms of the apps, they are exported from prod server and then the files are pasted into the replica on the dev server. Should i update the applications via shared services or is that method good enough in terms of preserving application provisioning.
If you LCM then it should handle most of it, it is worth running an export to get an understanding of the LCM structure, groups and provisioning is exported to csv format so you can easily open and see the contents.
