    How to reset the log_archive_dest_1 parameter ....

    user560159
      Hi There,
      I was preparing to create a physical standby database manually and set the following parameters. I was then was told to create the physical database via Oracle Enterprise manager. My question is how do I reset the following parameters to what they were or null or '':

      log_archive_dest_1

      log_archive_config

      log_archive_dest_2

      As well, I set the the db_recovery_file_dest_size to 100GB and turned force_logging on. Do I have to reset these before I create a standby via OEM? This will be my first time creating a physical standby using OEM.

      Thank you so much.

          Hello;

          Would use SQL or Broker ( and only broker if you use it )

          Are you using Broker?

          SQL> show parameter DG_BROKER_START

          edit database PRIMARY set property StandbyArchiveLocation = '/u01/oradata/arch';

          Otherwise Data Guard Broker document is your friend :

            Thank you so much. how do I reset my parameters? I set them to:

            alter system set log_archive_dest_1='location=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST';

            alter system set log_archive_config='dg_config=(primary,standby)';

            alter systen set log_archive_dest_2='service=standby async valid_for=(online_logfile, primary_role) db_unique_name=standby';

            As well, I set the the db_recovery_file_dest_size to 100GB and turned force_logging on.

            Do I have to reset these before I create a standby via OEM?

            Thanks :-)

              Not unless they are incorrect.

              I would make sure the DB_UNIQUE_NAME is set in advance.

                Thank you so much. I changed the parameters so they are blank, and made scope=spfile. So right now I don't see them blank. I would shutdown and startup the database but it is a production database so I can't. Once I create the physical standby using OEM i'm sure it will set it to what it needs, correct? Just a little worried that the next time the production database goes down it will make the parameters blank. Please confirm. Thanks again.

                  Hello;

                  If you are concerned about that create a new pfile from the spfile and confirm the settings.

                  If they are incorrect alter them.

                  I want you to think about this for a reason.
