I want to connect RHEL server from my windows 7 Professional machine graphically. I logged into 1 RHEL server with IP, 10.101.17.80 using Putty from my Windows 7 professional machine. Now from this server, 10.101.17.80, I want to connect to another RHEL server 10.101.17.79. I used,
ssh –X 10.101.17.79
from 10.101.17.80 but it is not connecting graphically and only doing a normal ssh connect.
I hope, my query is clear that it is not connecting graphically from 10.101.17.80 to 10.101.17.79.
with -X or -XY you will enable to bring the remote graphical application to run in this machine.
ssh is not text.
if you are logged on graph mode on the machine1, and you do ssh -X machine2, then you are already starting the text session, and doing a remote shell, that is not graphical.
However, if you run an application, say xterm, firefox, the remote graph one will be open in the local machine.
if what you want is be on the login of machine1, and be able to login graphically on machine2, you need XDMCP
