    jre-7u13 deployment.properties/deployment.config issue

    990678
      Is there a known issue with jre-7u13 and deployment.properties/deployment.config? I ran procmon and can see that the Java applet is reading the deployment.config and deployment.properties but the applet still creates it's own without the locked settings.

          Same problem!

          Until now we use 1.6 version with update 37. System settings with deployment.properties/deployment.config work like a charm.
          Now, when support of this version is end, we try to use 1.7 update 13, but settings deployment.properties/deployment.config not work.

          I don't see official answers, are they reading this forum at all?

              7u15 seems to not block Java with
              deployment.system.config.mandatory=true

              If it can't find the deployment.properties file
              but it does seem to read my deployment.properties file if I have it set correctly in the deployment.config file at the system level.

              Edit:
              So I do indeed see that it is reading my deployment.properties file in 7u15
              But http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6786180
              seems to still be affecting 7u15

              In your situation, it looks like your path is incorrect in the deployment.config file
              it should look like
              C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties

              All on one line, and there should be a \ after Deplyoment so that it knows to look at the deployment.properties file.
              When I have it set like that, I then have a
              C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
              file that IS read by 7u15

              The only problem I see right now is that 7u15 doesn't seem to honor the fact that if I have mandatory=true, it will still start up with out a problem if I remove the system level deployment.properties file .. just like
              6786180 states.

              6786180 seems to be fixed and working correctly on 6u41, however.

                Hi, user12611932.

                I think my settings are correct, but global settings not work at all.

                In my situation (i need java to use proxy server, not set in my browser):
                1. OS - Windows 7 ent sp1
                2. Java version - jre-7u15-windows-i586.exe
                3. I create global settings files:
                C:\Windows\sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.config
                C:\Windows\sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
                4. Content C:\Windows\sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.config:
                deployment.system.config=file\:C\:\\WINDOWS\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\deployment.properties
                deployment.system.config.mandatory=true
                5. Start IE, goto check version Java - http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
                6. When launching test, java created user config file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties. There is no global settings at all, and java don't use proxy server (timeout error).

                If i put file with global settings C:\Windows\sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties to user directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment everything work fine. So global file not used by java, why?

                PS Java 6 upd 41 work good with this settings.
                PPS Value true or false in deployment.system.config.mandatory not affect at all.

                  Found my mistake in my CFG.

                  That's work:
                  C:\Windows\sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.config:
                  deployment.system.config=C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
                  deployment.system.config.mandatory=false

                    jre-7u15 / Windows 7

                    Im not sure why when I copied and posted this it showed up like this "deployment.system.config=file:\\C\:\\Windows\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment
                    deployment.properties" but anyway I updated to 15 but still same issue.

                    Config file: C:Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.config

                    deployment.system.config=C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties

                    Still creates it's own properties file upon opening java control.
