The first place to look would be the documentation of your server's logger to see if you can specify a remote location for the log file e.g log4j provides a SocketAppender http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/apidocs/org/apache/log4j/net/SocketAppender.html1 person found this helpful

In normal trace logging the point is to figure out why a server isn't working by looking at information in a "log" file.
In your scenario there is a failure scenario that fails to provide you any information, and that is the case where the remote location is not available. You will not have any place to log the failure.
