    2. Create resource for the instance (= CLOB of xml file data).
    3. Register the XSD schema.
    4. Insert into XMLTYPE table via XMLQUERY from doc (resource created in 2.).

    Why do you create a resource for an XML file to be inserted?

    I do the following steps as you documented in {message:id=1405728}
    1. Create resource for the XSD schema.
    2. Register the XSD schema.
    3. Insert into XMLTYPE table via XDBURITYPE (the XML file is located in the WebDAV directory).

    If your approach would work in my environment, is the following guaranteed?
    1. The XML file is converted correctly from UTF-8 into the characterset ISO-8859-15.
    2. The base64 encoded data is automatically encoded during the insert into the XMLTYPE table.

    It works for me too, but for some reasons it doesn't on your environment, whatever the method used to insert into the table from the repository.
    Why do you create a resource for an XML file to be inserted?
    You do that too.
    A file stored in the XML DB repository ("WebDAV directory" in your terminology) is a resource.
