So if I'm to catch up.
You are running on Standby ( new primary ) and the ( old primary ) is considered trashed right?
If Yes I believe you could try to use RMAN to bring back the Old Primary as the new standby. I think there's a MOS note for this ( searching )
Using RMAN Effectively In A Dataguard Environment. [ID 848716.1] ( has a section on Reinstating a Physical Standby Using Backups )
Or you could rebuild it ( I probably use RMAN duplicate if possible ).
Your FLASHBACK DATABASE options appear to be gone.
What is the size of this?

400GB is a fairly quick RMAN duplicate if it comes to that.
When a failover occurs something happens to the Standby control file - I can't remember if there's any issue or not ( my knee jerk is not ) if you have to rebuild from there. Will check for a note and post here if I find it.
Not able to find it. Here's another note worth a look :

I finally got everything working by rebuild the standby (previous primary) from primary(previous standby).
Now everything works.
However I want to switchover to the previous primary as Primary.
Do I have to configure anything to keep it there as primary?
THanks in advance.
So that you, me, all can learn what the issue was exactly behind this. Next time i would suggest to "troubleshoot & Fix" rather than rebuild. :)
It seems to be network issues and i cannot say exactly.
I will suggest to post all the Broker log files after issued "reinstate" command ?
also do refer alert log file for any kind of information.
I tried several ways, hooked on the laptop since Wednesday to try to figure it out.
It seems there were gaps of archivelogs, but v$archive_gap shows nothing .
The Media recovery was not running. This system not functional right for so many days, I have to get things running for Monday. Because the now primary(standy) is on a very slow network. I got a lot request to get it fixed by users.
