Upgrade to 220.127.116.11, if you do not already run this patch set, and use the Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/globalization/dmu/overview/index.html Read the DMU documentation first: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E39404_01/welcome.html . This will help you understand the process. If you have questions after reading the documentation, ask them on the DMU forum: Database Migration Assistant for Unicode
By the way, do not migrate to UTF8 unless you use eBS 11i or some other software that needs Oracle Database Client 8.x libraries. Use AL32UTF8 instead.
We have the Oracle Database version 18.104.22.168.0 and our operating system AIX 5.3. As per my understanding, DMU tool would be helpful, if we have oracle databse version 22.214.171.124.0 onwards. Could you please provide any other alternative option available to migrate the oracle database (126.96.36.199.0 version) characterset from 'WE8ISO8859P15' to 'UTF8' with out any existing dataloss. Please provide the detailed steps to do this process.
One option is to use export/import - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e23633/expimp.htm
If you want to perform an in-place characterset migration, pl contact Oracle Consulting as they provide a for-fee service
