          Hi Ravi,

          Check with Business Continuity for Oracle E-Business Release 12 Using Oracle 11g Physical Standby Database [ID 1070033.1]

          Here, I am mentioning High Level Steps for Connecting Activated Standby Database with r12 Application @ DR Site.

          Prerequisites :
          1) Dataguard is Configured between Primary & Standby Database with all required parameters for Switchover/Switchback (you get lot of documents to configure dataguard)
          2) R12 application DR Site is constantly syncing from Primary Site with rsync OS Utility

          Steps:
          ---------
          1) Run the application tier and database tier pre-clone scripts (on Primary, if previously these command not had been run)
          perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
          perl adpreclone.pl appsTier

          2) Perform Switchover where Primary would beocome Standby and Standby would become in Primary role

          3) Connect to the new primary database (formerly Standby)
          exec fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean ;
          commit;

          4) As the ORACLE user on the new primary database server, use AutoConfig to complete configuration for primary operations, providing the APPS password when prompted:
          $ cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<context>
          $ ./adautocfg.sh

          5) When this completes, stop and start the listener on the new primary database server:
          $ lsnrctl stop
          $ lsnrctl start <SID>

          6) lsnrctl
          $ lsnrctl start <Standby Service>

          7) Run adcfgclone.pl appsTier on DR Application Tier with several details. (like new database servername, appl_top, comn_top location etc)

          8) Provide new Application URL to internal users for testing purpose.

          I hope this helps you :)

              This is an expected behavior since the database is open for read-only access and the application needs to write to it.

              If you want to test the failover/switchover then please refer to "Section 6: Role Transitions" in the same doc.

                  Hi,
                  No you can not open the application if the database is in standby mode. As it needs to create update the tables with the session information.

                  Thanks

                    how i can update the table with the session information ?

                    thanks

                      You can not update the table with the session information since database is in read-only mode. If you want to ever connect application to database, then perform switchover between your primary and standby & Run Autoconfig as I mentioned above.

                        I did switch over from primary to standby, now my standby database is in read write mode,
                        please tell me what should do now

                          Hi Ravi,

                          Perform below steps,

                          Connect to the new primary database (formerly Standby)
                          exec fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean ;
                          commit;

                          As the ORACLE user on the new primary database server, use AutoConfig to complete configuration for primary operations, providing the APPS password when prompted:
                          $ cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<context>
                          $ ./adautocfg.sh

                          When this completes, stop and start the listener on the new primary database server:
                          $ lsnrctl stop
                          $ lsnrctl start <SID>

                          $ lsnrctl
                          $ lsnrctl start <Standby Service>

                          Run adcfgclone.pl appsTier on DR Application Tier with several details. (like new database servername, appl_top, comn_top location etc)

                          and you're done !!! Cheers :)

                          Thanks,

                            Hi Manish

                            I followed the steps as you suggested, after switch over I ran autoconfig and now I can access it thorugh EBS as primary site.My question is how do I revert back my primary site from standby and how to use standby site for reporting purpose if the database is in read only mode (being standby)?

                              i was trying to install e-business suite on windows server 2003, i follow your forum procedure, but in cygwin i dint find out the mktemp in devel (cygwin), except this i installed everything, i am trying to install EBS but getting error as cl.exe not available, so what i suppose to copy to system32 folder, is it require to configure gnumake or with out gnumake i can install,
