Hello Experts,

I want install a 2 node RAC @ Sun Solaris 10.

Do we still need a Vendor Cluster like Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster???
OR
Oracle CRS can handle ALL Cluster functionality??

Thanks

    Hi Natrajan,

No need of OS clusters. Oracle Clusterware comes with Grid Infrastructure Package.

It will take care of that.

    Hi Natrajan,

As bala said, you don't need to have vendor clusterware, you may use grid infrastructure.

You can refer the below article : -
RAC and Oracle Clusterware Best Practices and Starter Kit (Platform Independent) (Doc ID 810394.1)

    Warm Regards,

Oracle Clusterware is required for Oracle RAC or Automatic Storage Management. If you will use RAC or ASM you must install and use Oracle Clusterware whether or not you use the Vendor Cluster.

It's recommended to use Third Vendor Cluster only if you need to use specific feature that do not exist in Oracle Clusterware.

    Hi Natrajan,

11gR2 Grid Infrastructure a.k.a GI has it's own clusterware therefore you don't have to purchase any additional third party clusterware s/w.

Below is link with screenshots to install 11gR2 on Solaris 10

I hope this helps you :)
