Doubt related to control file for point in time recovery

    995751
      Hello,

I am a newbie in performing recovery using RMAN. Please help me in these doubts:

      Lets say I have 2 DB backups, B1(Taken at *10am*), B2(Taken at *11am*).
I want to perform database point in time recovery till *10:30* am.

      Doubts :
I have these doubts related to retrieving correct control file for recovery :
      1. Should I take control file from B1 or B2 ? Which control file will have information required to recover till 10:30 am ?
      2. Can I recover multiple times using control file from B1 or B2(assuming that each time I properly reset the DB incarnation each time) ?
      3. Should I recover control file from AUTOBACKUP ? What difference does it make retrieving control file from AUTOBACKUP or from a manually specified control file locations(say from B1 or B2) ?

      Any slightliest help is appreciated.
      Thanks.

restore it from B2, because controlfile from B1 has no info about archivelogs needed to recover till 10:30
          2. Can I recover multiple times using control file from B1 or B2(assuming that each time I properly reset the DB incarnation each time) ?
          yes, you can

autobackup means default destination for controlfile autobackups in Fast Recovery Area, or, if you connect to catalog, location specified by "configure controlfile autobackup"
