Hi!,

I am looking for steps to migrate planning 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.2.
I have done the hssmigrate, essbase migrate, exported the planning app schema and biplus database schemas to new database.

I know i have to export the forms and reports, not sure how to use the exported schemas etc.

Your help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

You might not be perform a direct migration of schema, because in both the version the table structures are different. therefore you have to migrate each components one by one.

    example :
    1. Migrate Metadata
    2. Migrate Webforms (Form Def Utility)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12032_01/doc/epm.921/html_hp_admin/frameset.htm?/cd/E12032_01/doc/epm.921/html_hp_admin/hpamin-14-57.htm
    3. Migrate BR's to Calc Manager (As in 11.1.2.2 concept of BR's doesn't exist)
    http://john-goodwin.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/alternative-methods-for-migrating.html
    4. Import tasklist, Process management, security etc

    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin/frameset.htm?ch02s10.html

You need to extract your metadata from version 9 using Outline Extractor and then using that file you can load your metadata using outlineload utility.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Thanks again.

After installation and during configuration there is oprion to import data from earlier versions. as per:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_1112200/frameset.htm?ch06s02.html
    I pointed
For shared services performed hssmigrate.bat steps
planning to plansys schema (931 copy)
Reporting and Analysis to biplus schema (931 copy)
Administration server to aas schema (931 copy)

Started services - however could not launch Planing Administration and could not login to EAS.
Gave up and starting again on fresh install (meaning restored VM backup point in time for running config utlility).

Planning upgrade is really challenging one.

Have you checked the logs for the web application to see if there are any errors when starting up, check <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\<instancename>\diagnostics\logs\services

    Hi! John,
I see this in the log:

I was able to login to http://server1:9000/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp and change the datasource/upgrade planning application successfully.
however not able to login http://server1:9000/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp?Application=PLANDEV
getting Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check Planning log for details (I tried updateusers.cmd but it failed to connect to olap)

Question on Essbase part of planning migration - since I am not able to create database using planning can I create dummy essbase app plandev and replace all files from old931 version and import data?

Did you configure all the components to a single database schema? The error indicates it can't find the the tables for RAF which can sometimes happen when the configuration is not carried out correctly or the tables don't exist or the user does not have the correct privileges.

Yes John I am using single port for all components as this is development.
I redeployed apps and am able to login.

For planning app's essbase migration i did create a dummy application/databases and then copied files createed by the Essbase migration utility/imported data.

I exported the subsitution variables and imported to 11.1.2.2 (thanks to OLAP underground for their cool utility)

Now I am able to login to migrated planning application, can see forms (magic they appear without having to use the formsdef utility) , tasklists (no need to export/import if you use planning schema from 9.3.1 and upgrade).

At this point my VM which was working great for sample Essbase and Planning apps is maxing out on memory due to use of real world migrated application. Reporting and analysis services are always in starting staus (researched this and found its due to memory).

    Thanks for your help everyone.

Resolved Reporting and Analysis services issue by allocating static memory to server (previous config was dynamic allocation).
