Assembled 27 October 2008
2. how was printer installed?
using printer.conf file
3. output of lpstat -lp (printerqname)
lpstat -lp EPSONFX
printer EPSONFX now printing EPSONFX-0. enabled since Wed Apr 10 11:10:08 2013. available.
After fault: continue
Default page size:
Default port setting:
at the least.
Does your non-root user have a default printer installed:
system default printer: EPSONFX
The output looks fishy. There is no content type or printer type.
If you added an entry to printers.conf by editing the file,
that is probably part of the problem.
if this is a printer hosted on a Windows print server,
then you should use the appropriate lpadmin command
Solaris 10 printing guide:
Check out the "Setting Up Printers on a Print Client (TaskMap)"
Using the command line or printer manager will allow the lp service
to query the Windows system for preferred protocol, typically
ipp, and allow the proper info to be written to /etc/printers.conf.
See Appendix A for in depth info about IPP.
When using the command line:
# lpadmin -p printer -s print-server -D description
make sure to use the same value for "-p" as the Windows
system uses. The description is optional.
