Hit a bump !!!!
Oracle Linux x86-64 installed successfully via Oracle VM box.
Clicked on 'Install Guest Additions'.
Ran VboxLinuxAdditions.run to install the Guest machine on Linux. It Failed and in error log (/var/log/vboxinstall.log) got the below error:- Error: Unable to find sources for current Linux Kernel. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run again
Looking upto Google i found I need to update Linux headers , in doing so get +'bash: apt-get : command not found'+ which I am not able to understand.
Any assistance is appreciated.
I think you need to install using yum as follows:
yum install gcc
yum install kernel-uek-devel-$(uname -r)
The Guest Additions installer should tell you what headers you are missing and the command to install when it fails.
Thanks for the information. I was able to resolve it though.
Ran +'yum install gcc kernel-devel kernel-headers'+
Hence my query is resolved now.
Just one question - I need to copy text from Windows to Linux Terminal. Is there a command I can type into Linux terminal to enable copy paste from Windows to Linux and vice-versa ?
In your Oracle Linux guest VM, under the Virtual Box Devices ->Shared Clipboard menu option, you can select the bidirectional option to allow copy/paste between the host/guest operating systems. This should work if your Guest Additions software is installed properly.
Copying of the clipboard only works for applications that use a clipboard, which is typically a background application or built into the graphical window manager. In other words, you need to run your terminal session in a X Window terminal application. The text only console does not support the clipboard.
