    How to Display icons in FORMS 11g

    Maahjoor
      Dear all,

      i am using oracle forms 11g (fusion middleware) 64 bit under windows server 2008 64bits and oracle database 11g 64bit.

      my question is that how could i implement icons in the forms 11g?

      before that i create a form in 10g developer with icons on buttons,
      now when i compile those forms in forms11g, the icons are now displaying.

      how to work around?

      Regards.

          Hi,

          Just do the next:

          1. Place the images in the directory of your choice. Notionally, we'll assume they are located in ->d:\images

          2. Set up your environment so that ORACLE_HOME\jdk\bin is in your path so you can run the jar utility.

          3. Create a jar file using the images in the d:\images folder as follows:

          a. cd d:\images

          b. jar -cvf icons.jar *.gif

          3. Copy the icons.jar file into the ORACLE_HOME/forms/java folder

          4. Using Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Fusion Middleware Control make the following modifications to the formsweb.cfg:

          a. archive=frmall.jar,icons.jar

          b. imageBase=codebase --this is necessary if using images from jar files.

          6. Ensure the appropriate entries are set in the Registry.dat indicating the type of image file used for icons. Also, the example used here requires the value of default.icons.iconpath be blank since the images within the jar file are not contained within a directory structure.

          default.icons.iconextension=gif
          default.icons.iconpath=

          NOTE: You may have to clear the client jar file cache if you've made changes to the Registry.dat so a new copy will be downloaded.

                    Hi,

                    You must set the right values for the next entries:

                    default.icons.iconextension=gif <--- here you must specify the extension your iconic images have, gif or jpg
                    default.icons.iconpath= <-- you have to specify the folder containing the iconic images if you saved them in one inside jar file

                    The registry.dat file is located at DOMAIN_HOME/config/fmwconfig/servers/WLS_FORMS/applications/formsapp_11.1.1/config/forms/registry/oracle/forms/registry

                    hope this helps you :)

                    Regards

                          Well, my oracle support is a site where you can contact oracle support team and get reference note like the one i gave you, the site is: https://support.oracle.com

                          To get access you must be an oracle customer or partner member

                            the name of a iconic image file you have in the jar, after that run your form and the button should show you the iconic image

                              yes, i know that,
                              but how to find the specific note as you provide?

                              secondly,

                              i set the iconic button image file name property to d:\images\aa.gif
                              i try only aa.gif also, but of no use.

                              but it is not displaying.

                              everything is as you said. but not functioning.

                                but how to find the specific note as you provide
                                look for it by its number, just put the note reference number in the upper right search field and the note should appear in the list.

                                i set the iconic button image file name property to d:\images\aa.gif
                                i try only aa.gif also, but of no use.

                                try with just aa

                                also look into the java console, maybe there is an error.

                                  what is the configuration you set for this ?
                                  default.icons.iconextension=
                                  default.icons.iconpath=

                                  May try this
                                  default.icons.iconextension=gif
                                  default.icons.iconpath= d:\images\
                                  -- or d:\images
                                  i set the iconic button image file name property to d:\images\aa.gif
                                  i try only aa.gif also, but of no use.
                                  Button property
                                  Iconic = Yes
                                  Icon file name=aa
                                  Close the browser and clear the cash or jre

                                  run your form..

                                  Hope it works..
