Getting error "[nQSError: 12033] A client tried to connect to a server that is not of the right type".
Does anyone know what the messages means?
I have OBI Admin tool patched to 22.214.171.124.8 (so I can open an offline RPD file from a server running 126.96.36.199.8 - it would not open with an unpatched OBI admin tool)
but am currently trying to modify (in online mode) the RPD on a different server running OBIEE 188.8.131.52.
I am trying to import a new schema into the physical layer.
When I right click and try "New Database", I get a dialog box telling me "unknown error"
When I right click an existing DB, select COPY then PASTE, I get the nQSError.
Any insight or help would be appreciated.
Can OBI admin tools 184.108.40.206.8 and 220.127.116.11 coexist on the same computer / OS image?
Do I need to change my PATH or other variables when I want to switch back and forth between the two versions?
I really need both versions, but didn't think I could run them on the same OS image.
I didn't think you could run them on the same OS!
Give a try going to open the client tool directly from physical location, instead of start menu and launch the tool.

I appreciate that you want to help but encouraging me to "try it out" really does not help.
Oracle software is about as bad as it gets in terms of not de-installing cleanly. OBI leaves little bits of itself all over the place and cleaning up a failed install or trying to sort out a mixture of installs is a dance through the mine field of regedit hacks.
If the configuration is not supported - I won't try it out just to see if I end up with a broken system or not.
Consider this similar suggestion - If you don't know whether you are able to juggle chain saws, try it out and let me know how that works...
18.104.22.168.8 client opening lower version rpd, tool might prompt as you get
22.214.171.124 client opening higher version rpd, tool might prompt something like version 302 to 318 or 320
I don't think any point of time any of rpd would corrupt.
