what does mean 1:N cardinality relationship in joins (physical layer)
Mar 21, 2013 11:28 AM
could please explain what is real functionality of 1:N relation in physical join between dim -> fact.
2. what will happen in case of vice-versa ?
3. why we need to give only 1:N cardinaliny relation ? of course all other options are disable default.
4. in case of dim -> dim also we go only 1:N what is the reason?
ex: product-->Sales (1:N)
we go type-->product (1:N ) only why?
please answer me ASAP.
thanks in advance

in response to
read through this http://gerardnico.com/wiki/data_modeling/cardinality to understand more about data modelling then you will understand as how the mapping is done for product -> sales
1 product has no of sales( so 1:N)
Employee works for Department(so 1:N)
Department has employee(so N:1)
Hope it helps
