          Hi,

What is the url to access oracle apex on the laptop where you have installed 11g express edition?
Post the output of lsnrctl stauts (start>run>cmd)

If you want to access database from the other laptop using tools like sqldeveloper, toad etc..

add an entry for 11g database box to the other laptop hosts file (windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)
          ex 192.168.1.1    vmtest.mylearn.com      vmtest
make sure you can reach the other host with ping command
          ping <hostname>
          ex: ping vmtest
If you want to connect using tnsnames install database client and add tns entry to the tnsnames file.

To connect using sqldeveloper, toad, etc you need the following details with you
          username/password
hostname/ip (you can user either hostname or IP)
          listener port
          database SID
          by default XE has
          SID = XE
          listener port = 1521

          Regards
          Yoonas

I have already specified that in my previous post, start sqldeveloper and provide required details

See this (it uses connection type basic)

If you wan to connect using TNS install client from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win32soft-098987.html and add an entry in tnsnames file.

post the output of lsnrctl status from the other laptop (11g xe installed one)
start>run>cmd>lsnrctl status (hope you are on windows)
I am sure oracle will give some hints why the test failed ;) , post the error message as well.

post output of "ping THISARA-PC" from the other laptop(laptop without 11gxe)

                      username: <username>
                      hostname: <password>
                      hostname: thisara-pc
                      port      : 1521
                      SID      : xe

Try like above and post the output/error message from sqldeveloper(you can also upload and share the screen shot on any free share sites)
