Thank you. It does give some information but by no means a complete explanation of what causes the problem. If I understand correctly the discovery process for SCAN is specific to SCAN targets, is that correct? I gather I can't just assume that OEM will figure it out on it's own either. THere are a couple of other notes listed there as well which I will look at but I am also interested in knowing if there is a document that discusses this explicitly. I was unable to find anything in the OEM cloud control guides.
Typically there is no documentation for adding/discovering a specific target type. The process of adding targets is documented here:
One way to add/discover a SCAN listener is:
- Go to Setup > Add Target > Add Targets Manually
- From the Add Targets Manually, select the Add Targets Using Guided Process option
- From the Target Types drop-down list, select Oracle Database, Listener and Automatic Storage Management
- Click Add Using Guided Process
- Follow the process ...
