    i get the same error
    SQL> select * from demo@MYSQLORA.FANOOS;
    select * from demo@MYSQLORA.FANOOS
                       *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ORA-02063: preceding line from MYSQLORA
    any help?

    What does your own google search of 'ORA-28500' turn up?

    What I see first is that oracle is telling you it got some sort of error from the mysql system. What does that tell you? Well, it tells you that you were able to contact the mysql database. The first few google hits I got suggested that perhaps you were passing an invalid username/password.

    yes i found this but it's not correct please see the below
    [root@TSH ~]# mysql -udemo -pdemo -Ddemo
    Reading table information for completion of table and column names
    You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A
    
    Welcome to the MySQL monitor.  Commands end with ; or \g.
    Your MySQL connection id is 23
    Server version: 5.1.67 Source distribution

    Well, I know nothing about mysql. I'd recommend checking in on a mysql forum.

    i found workaround , but i need to know how to create the db link maybe later i will search more .

    Care to contribute to the knowledge base by sharing that "workaround"? It might trigger some ideas for a NON-workaround solution.
