I'm new to the Solaris 11 arena, I want to update my Java install via the Package Manager from the web. The latest release of Java is JDK1.7.0_17 and JRE1.7.0_17, how do I upgrade to them via Package Manager. My current release is JDK1.7.0_07 and JRE1.7.0_07.
The first step is to survive the sticker shock for a licensed copy of Solaris.
If you pass that step and do make the purchase check out:
Updated versions of Java are found in the support repository
The current version in the support repository is 1.7.0_17
To access that repository you will need a support contract for Solaris.
If you don't have a support contract then you can still download the raw tarballs from the java website and manually install - but it will then be managed separately to the packaging system.
