Hi,

DB Version is 11.2.0.2 & OS Version RHEL 5

1) What init.ora parameters need to be synchronized between the primary and standby databases?

2) How does the primary database detect standby database problems or failure?

Regards

What is means synchronized. If your means SYNC transport, then stanbyd service log_archive_dest_n parameter require contains
SYNC AFFIRM for data protection mode MAX PROTECTION and MAX AVAILABILITY.

    2) How does the primary database detect standby database problems or failure?
You can found v$archive_dest view column ERROR.
If have any problem on standby you can get error on primary side.
Transport is stopping when there have any error on archive destination.
