em/emctl

Hi all,

Everytime I finished installing a database, there is a message that em has been configured.
Which I just disregard or neglect :(
The Database Control URL is https://localhost:1158/em

Management Repository has been placed in secure mode wherein Enterprise Manager data will be encrypted.
The encryption key has been placed in the file:
c:/app/titanic.com/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/localhost_orcl/sysman/config/emkey.ora.
Please ensure this file is backed up as the encrypted data will become unusable if this file is lost.

Enterprise Manager Database Control URL - (orcl) :
https://localhost:1158/em
Honestly speaking, I do not use OEM as they seem not so helpful to me? Or I am just blinded?
Can you give me reasons why do you use OEM pleaseee...i.
Or what features in OEM you like the most?

Thanks a lot.

    hi.

    the em replace SQL to management database.
    if you can use SQL to operation ,then you can close it that consume OS resource.

    when you installing it , the em option can not be selected. or you use “emctl stop dbconsole " close it.

    what features in OEM you like the most?
    To create Job, Schedule, etc..
    PL/SQL is very complex...

    I thank you for the fast response, you two are early birds always. ;)
    To create Job, Schedule, etc..
    But I do not have a job :( , what else it is useful with?

    Or scheduling a job is much easier using Sqldeveloper :D did you try it? It has a lots of OBE too.

    Thanks,

    Thanks asad :),

    I do usually create database using this script:
    startup nomount;
    create database PROD
           logfile group 1 ('/oradata/PROD/redo01.log',
                            '/oradata/PROD/redo01b.log') size 50M,
                   group 2 ('/oradata/PROD/redo02.log',
                            '/oradata/PROD/redo02b.log') size 50M,
                   group 3 ('/oradata/PROD/redo03.log',
                            '/oradata/PROD/redo03b.log') size 50M,
                   group 4 ('/oradata/PROD/redo04.log',
                            '/oradata/PROD/redo04b.log') size 50M
           character set AL32UTF8
           datafile '/oradata/PROD/sysPROD.dbf' size 500M
           sysaux datafile '/oradata/PROD/auxPROD.dbf' size 300M
           undo tablespace undo
                   datafile '/oradata/PROD/undoPROD.dbf' size 100M
           default temporary tablespace temp
                   tempfile '/oradata/PROD/tempPROD.dbf' size 150M;
    @/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql;
    @/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql;
    connect system/manager;
    @/opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/sqlplus/admin/pupbld.sql;
    exit;
    How do I add here the sql to install oem?

    Thanks a lot....

    you dn,t need to install OEM its binary is already install while installing oracle binaries you need to create oem repository and configure some configuration files.
    set enviroment variable
    $ORACLE_SID
    $ORACLE_HOME
    $ORACLE_BASE

    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create "(Its terminal command you need to execute it in cmd prompt not in sql prompt)".

    above command will do the required trick to create and configure your oem.
    note your service must be register in listener and must be started.

    have look into below link
    http://docs.oracle.com/html/B14399_01/app_port.htm

    if you want to verify that what port is configure for your OEM
    $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini have information about all port numbesr which is configure in your CONFIGURATION.

    check the below document :
    http://docs.oracle.com/html/A88770_01/ch1.htm

    it's mention OEM Benefits for version 9.0.1 and you imagine 12c what features included

    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e25353/overview.htm

    It seems conflicting with other EM on another database :(
    ORA-06512: at line 17

    oracle.sysman.assistants.util.sqlEngine.SQLFatalErrorException: ORA-20001: SYSMAN already exists..
    ORA-06512: at line 17
    Does this mean one only one OEM must be created under 10g OracleHome? How do I delete all installed OEM first to cleanup all?

    If I have another 11g OracleHome do I need to install its own OEM? or it will be covered by the OEM in 10g OraHome?

    Thankss

    from your output it seems that em is already configure.

    post output of log file
    /u01/app/oracle/product/10g/db_1/cfgtoollogs/emca/test1/emca_2013-04-03_10-49-20-PM.log

    haissst.... lots of new tools to study oem 9i , oem 10g, oem 11g , oem 12c :(
    I have not even finished with the easiest one.
    I will make me crazy by and by. When will oracle stop developing new tools.

    So with all the many versions, do I need only 1 partner? If I have two databases 10gR2 and 11gR2 what OEM should I use?

    Thanksssssss
