I guess my concern is that a dataguard has a different db unique name then the primary.
not sure how the master register the mview site - does he look at dbid ? db name ?
from looking at the mview log - it looks like it only looks at the last refresh time - but I am not sure what goes on behing the scenes.
So I don't know if the master will decide that it does not recognize the dataguard as the mview site.
I will just need to test it and find out , but switching over requires some coordination..
The DBID is the same for a Standby database and so is the db_name. Its the same database period.
Go to your Standby and try to register RMAN. It will bark and tell you the database is already registered ( because of the primary )
I don't see how db unique name would affect refresh.
In any event its the same database in a different mode. If I cannot convince you then you should absolutely test it.
