Well, that did indeed crash my session. In the face of such results, the easy answer is to submit an SR.
If you reference the recent thread here, How to create a polygon that covers a set of geometries? I think you'd agree that the root of the problem is actually in SDO_TRIANGULATE which is driving the hull generation. That might be what you want to submit to support.
That being said I don't have solution for you.
/* Nuke my Session */ SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_TRIANGULATE(geom,0.01) AS cch FROM ( SELECT SDO_GEOMETRY(2005,NULL,NULL, SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1, 8), SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY( 3375886.39, 5715693.49, 3375918.05, 5715691.42, 3375874.62, 5715730.85, 3375871.31, 5715753.88, 3375923.09, 5715656.62, 3375899.17, 5716028.49, 3375911.16, 5715750.67, 3375866.35, 5715712.28 ) ) geom FROM dual )
Thanks @Paul for the confirmation and @yhu for the information to the patch.
Will ask my admin to patch the system an come back with the result.
I guess this problem has been lingering since 2011 at least.
Re: endless sdo_geom.sdo_concavehull
Support still lists it to be fixed in a "future release".
Any idea when we can expect this to be rolled into the core product via a PSU? For some of us installing a one-off patch in production is very onerous. Would it be a good idea to encourage Jum to submit an SR just to inform Oracle that their customers are encountering this deficiency and it would be nice to have it fixed in the core product? I think our OTN answers help some folks out but my impression is only SR activity has the potential to create any pressure to get things fixed in the core which would help out far more people in the end.
Paul, I understood and opened a SR in this issue.
Not all the bugs are targeted for PSU releases.
An SR with a request to include this in the PSU will help the support team to prioritize it for a future PSU release.
