    Where to train for OCMJD?

    1003967
      Hello friends,
I am from Bangladesh and recently I have started to shift my career towards Java. I am at the final stages of preparing for OCPJP and my future plan is to take the OCMJD as well. However, in Bangladesh, I can only train for the OCPJP; anything else and I have to go to some other country (as far as I know).

I would prefer a instructor led training for OCMJD (though I am doing the same for OCPJP in Bangladesh). Can anyone suggest a good place to do the OCMJD training near Bangladesh (India or some other country)? Because I can't seem to find such a suitable place. In case, there aren't any instructor led training programs for OCMJD, what sort of training is available and where? How can I collect the course material and apply for the exam?

The help center provided by Oracle University has a phone number. Isn't there any email address where I can ask these questions?

Oh..... One more question: is "Object Oriented Analysis and Design with UML" ---- some sort of certificate from Oracle?

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

      Bye.

If you are going for a master certification then you need to be much more about thinking about finding things out for yourself.

This is a different mindset. A different way of thinking.

If you are thinking "... I must find someone/somewhere to train me to be a master" ... then perhaps this is the wrong way of thinking. ( That isn't to say the master will not take training ... one would expect him to think of very specific areas where training would be useful to him, and other areas where he can self-learn for himself).

There should also reasonably be a gap between getting the OCP and going for the OCM while you really learn to apply the OCP things you have learned.

          ....

Please understand this is my viewpoint only (and I am not OCM).

          .....

Please browse http://certification.oracle.com where there are more details. Remember once you start talking about going for OCM then I am looking at a high standard of finding things out for yourself.

And beware of those you may offer such training ... and leave you no money and worthless training.

            Hello bigdelboy,
Thank you for your quick response. But I guess you woke up on the wrong side of bed or may have been beaten by your neighbor’s dog today. Because your comment,

“If you are going for a master certification then you need to be much more about thinking about finding things out for yourself.” ------ is quite condescending. The link that you have provided, I have already looked into it. It says about Exam contents, price and schedules of different certification exams. But where does it say anything about instructor lead training on OCMJD? This was my primary question and concern. I might be new to Oracle’s Java certifications, but I am familiar with the Internet! Until recently, I worked as a POSIX C programmer.

As I couldn’t find what I was looking for (in education.oracle.com), I thought I was missing something. That’s why, I posted this thread. But I wasn’t expecting such patronizing comments. And by the way, it’s very expensive to call a help center in America from Bangladesh. That’s why; I was looking for a suitable email address. If you have some helpful information regarding my issues then share them here. If not, then condescending comments are unwarranted.

            Bye.

Yeah ... i did get up over 15 hours ago as it happens. Unusually did not step in dog pooh and walk it in the office.

.... I only patronize OCM candidates who might be going for it too early.

At OCM level the candidate needs to be trying to did out authorative sources of information for themselves.

I guess you'd say you already found http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:JSED6 and it doesn't help much.

You might not find anything relevant in blogs.oracle.com/certification either .... but its worth a look. (e.g. https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0620a semi relevant).

{forum:id=923} is actually a more specialist forum for Java and the answer is more likely to be found there .... though the forum is probably not as heavily monitored and it is possilbe for non certification safe advice to be given there (eg links to braindumps). And to some extent I, who essentially don't do Java (only suffer it's stackdumps ;-) , am aware of that forum and would expect the OCM candidate to look there. But in practice for the Java my understanding is there are a couple of relatively safe sites where you'd probably get a greater pool of experts. My understanding is certguard.com regards coderanch.com is currently certification safe, and my understanding, possibly flawed, is it that it has a good reputation (not that everything may be good).

But you'll probably say you were at http://www.coderanch.com/t/543297/java-developer-SCJD/certification/OCMJD already; ... i simply say the OCM candidate wold probably work out they have a better change of there answer there.

I suspect browsing there may give a better view on how candidates are approaching that exam (some more right than others), the trick is to see work out what are the good answers. I think you may also hep yourself my identifying what areas you would be seeking training in.

Bangladesh is not mentioned on all the Oracle Education Sites: Try: http://www.oracle.com/us/education/selectcountry-new-079003.html and select Live chat. There answer may or may not be better than mine.

I don't think that bigdelboy was condescending. He was being truthful. Someone who is still preparing (even if in the final stages) for the OCP shouldn't be thinking or worrying about the OCM yet. OCM is a couple of years away , after suitable experience.

Doing the "Masters" for a Professional Certification is not like enrolling in a University for a Masters degree immediately after getting a Bachelors degree.

If you go to this page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:JSED6, you'll see that there is an assignment and an essay required for certification (in addition to a training course). If you click on the link to the assignment, you'll be taken to this page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-855&p_org_id=&lang= where you'll see two OU courses that are recommended training for this assignment. If you'll click on the Developing Applications course, you'll be taken to this page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=609&p_org_id=1080544&lang=US&get_params=dc:D61860GC10,p_preview:N and see that there are several live virtual classes scheduled.

If you want to talk to someone in Oracle University, you can employ the live chat feature at www.oracle.com/education, or you can find the appropriate regional contact at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=225.
