Oracle Says, DML operation on a single row from a table will lock the whole Compression Unit, when the table is in Hybrid Columner Compression.
in this case, Does HCC is recommended for OLTP database?
If yes, How about the Locking issue is handled on a table in OLTP HCC.
If you read the Oracle doc and WP, they never recommend HCC for frequently modified data, even without the locking issue.
They best use cases for OLTP systems is when the big tables are partitioned, say by date, and old data is never or seldom modified. You use HCC on the old partitions, and leave the newer ones uncompressed or OLTP compressed.
