    Getting the error "[INS-20802] Oracle Cluster Verification Utility failed."

    User534926 - Oracle
      Hi All,

      I'm attempting to configure a RAC environment using VirtualBox and am following this tutorial:

      http://www.lab128.com/rac_installation_using_vb/article_text.html

      I'm towards the end of the Install the Grid Infrastructure using the Oracle Installer (./runInstaller) and the error [INS-20802] Oracle Cluster Verification Utility failed.

      Below is the output from the log file:

      I googled to find a solution, without success, but noticed when I run the oifcfg getif, I get the following output:

      eth0 192.168.56.0 global public
      * 192.168.10.0 global cluster_interconnect
      PRIF-29: Warning: wildcard in network parameters can cause mismatch among GPnP profile, OCR, and system

      ...I think the problem may be due to the wildcard but don't know how to go about fixing it. Could someone kindly provide a set of instructions to resolve this?

      Additional Information:

      I'm new to Linux and Vitualbox with limited knowledge of networks so, any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Many thanks in advance.

          Are you able to ping both the machine?

          Let us know whether you are able to ping rac1 from rac2 machine and rac2 server from rac1 machine.

            Also check whether you have configured the network to bridge adapter.

              Hi,

              You must ping both on all IPs (public, private).
              If every thing ok, then you must set ssh between nodes.

              Can you paste here hosts files both server? and ping results ?

                Hi,

                You will need to delete cluster_interconnect information from OCR and add it back. Do it while GI is up and running.

                oifcfg delif -global <if_name>[<subnet>]

                oifcfg setif -global <interface>/<subnet>:cluster_interconnect

                Regards,
                Sharma

                    I have ping both, rac1 and rac2 from each other. The network configuration for both is, as per instructions of the tutorial:

                    Adapter 1: Host-only
                    Adapter 2: Internal Network

                    Is this an issue?

                      1006127, you was close to solution. Problem is in asterisk symbol "*"

                      * 192.168.10.0 global cluster_interconnect

                      This can be fixed by command:

                      $GRID_HOME/bin/oifcfg delif -global */192.168.10.0

                      Do it on all your RAC nodes. Then restart ./runInstaller
