Do you have your Oracle HTTP server (Apache) running?
          Browse to:

          http://<your_server_name>:7777/isqlplus

          or

          http://<your_server_name>:7778/isqlplus

Thanks for the response, and yes you do have a valid point. Well...looks like I have a problem running the Oracle HTTP server. Here's what is happening --

I go to Start->Programs->Oracle-Ora9->Oracle HTTP Server->Start HTTP Server powered by Apache

I am trying to start the HTTP server this way, but I get a dos window opened saying

Syntax error on line 298 of c:/ora9/apache/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
            Port must be numeric
Note the errors or messages above, and press the <ESC> key to exit ....

I did go to the location above and opened the file to look : The related statements I found were -

            Port 7777
            Port null
            Listen 7777
            Listen null

Could there be anything wrong here ? Any idea as to how I get thru this problem and correct it so that I can start my HTTP server. Thanks

Remove the following lines and restart:
              Port null
              Listen null

                Kamal,
Tried removing those, but same error. But with a difference in line number. It tells me now

Syntax error on line 1133 of c:/ora9/apache/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
                Port must be numeric
Note the errors or messages above, and press the <ESC> key to exit ....

I looked up the line number. The contents of the line number is

                <VirtualHost default:null>

                Thank you

It looks like the installation of Oracle HTTP server did not go correctly. There seems to be far too many issues with the conf file.

Did you do a default standard installation of the server? Did you install all therequired components? Were there any installer errors in the log file?

Try removing Oracle HTTP server and reinstall it again.

I did so. Removed the Oracle HTTP server component and installed it over again. And it successfully installed, giving me the information that it can be accessed at

                    http://<my server name>:7778
                    or
                    https://<my server name>:4443

I accessed this and got the Oracle HTTP server information and the documentation of
                    # Apache Documentation
                    # JServ Documentation
                    .... etc

And I have the server window open that says running.

However I am still not able to access isqlplus
                    I tried

                    http://<my server name>:7778/isqlplus
                    and
                    https://<my server name>:4443/isqlplus

Is there any other way I could try this.
                    Thanks

I got this when I tried the above url

                      Not Found
The requested URL /isqlplus was not found on this server.

When you look into the installed components in your Oracle universal installer, under the Oracle9i database node, does it show you an entry for iSQL*Plus 9.2.0.1.0?

Check that the line in the Oracle HTTP Server configuration file includes a reference to the isqlplus.conf file. The Oracle HTTP Server configuration file can be found at:

                          %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\conf\oracle_apache.conf

If it is commented out, remove the '#' and restart the Oracle HTTP Server

                            Hi,
I have Oracle 9i R1 running on Linux 8 - can anybody help me in accessing isql*Plus .
I have done it a long time ago on windows 2000.

Success !! Thank a whole Kamal and Alison

The isql*plus wasn't installed to begin with. I did so.
And then had to go to the oracle_apache.conf and uncomment out the suggested entry. And there -- http://<my_server_name>:7778/isqlplus

got me to the login screen.

iSQL*Plus was only shipped on Windows in Oracle9i Release 1. You will need Oracle9i Release 2 to set up iSQL*Plus on Linux.
