Oracle 11g dataguard creates archive first on DR site than on production

      Hi,

We have setup a physical standby database (MAXIMUM PROTECTION) on Oracle 11g (OS- AIX). We have set a DELAY=60 in parameter log_archive_dest2 at production site.
When we do a ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE the archive first gets created in standby site archive location then on next switch og logfile the previos archive is seen in the production site archive location.
But the new generated archive does not get applied at DR site, it gets applied only after specified delay of 60 mins.

This is first time we are setting up database in 11g. Steps we followed were the same as for 10g. Are there any other settings which need to be done.

      Kindly suggest.

"ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE" does not cause immediately archiving of switched log.

            Hi,

DELAY mechanism is same both version of database.
If you are using Real Time Apply on 11g version, then transport service is ignore DELAY option.

Oracle experts recommended use FLASHBACK and Real TIME APPLY together.
