The behavior depends on the version of SQL Developer in use. Prior to 3.0, there was no limit imposed by SQL Developer, but attempting to view a large CLOB in the result grid's cell editor could result in a Java OutOfMemory error. Using 3.0 or higher, the limit is 2 GB (with a trailing "..." to indicate truncation), which I suppose could still result in an OutOfMemory depending on your Java VM's -Xmx setting.

currently we have only 64k Clobs and we can easy handle this with the SQLDeveloper.
