ALLOCATE CHANNEL c1 DEVICE TYPE DISK;
set newname for datafile X to '+BACKUP/../../../your_datafile.dbf';
RESTORE TABLESPACE Your_tablespace;
SWITCH DATAFILE ALL;
RECOVER TABLESPACE your_tablespace;
x=number of your datafile
Is this not moving the original datafile to a new location? What I'm looking to do is move the copy from the incremental backup as per
RECOVER COPY OF DATABASE
WITH TAG 'incr_update';
and ensure that this copy is always recovered to BACKUP and not FRA if that makes sense, whilst the default backup still takes place in FRA and the original datafiles/tablespaces remain at DATA?
Yes it's possible.
Move the backup and then set the new location of the backup on the controlfile:
1. Move the backup.
2. RMAN delete old backup reference from control file:
crosscheck backup device type disk;
3. RMAN include the new location of the backup:
delete noprompt expired backup device type disk;
And you're done :)
catalog start with '/path/to/your/backup/'
Thanks. That also gave me the opportunity to give the datafile image copies a sensible OMF name.
