The only annoying thing is that if you close the command window with the error in it, it will close SQL Developer.
Way more annoying is that if you choose to "Close all windows" from your task bar, it will not prompt to save any of your SQL Developer changes"

This should be in its own thread, as the original is marked answered.

The window with the error in it is the parent process of sqldeveloper, so if you close it of course sqdeveloper will close.

This is a consequence of the behaviour above. SQL Developer will prompt to save files when shutdown, but the "close all windows" action also kills the parent process which terminates sqldeveloper immediately.

You don't need the command window. The usual way of starting SQL Developer is to use <sqldev>\sqldeveloper.exe This starts sqldeveloper without a console.

You must be running <sqldev>\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe which shows the console and is useful for debugging startup problems.

Your post has been split away from the Ututil error _execv() failed, err=2 you had appended it to.

You are asking a question pertinent to YOU, which makes your post a hijack post.

That is considered poor forum etiquette because you are ripping attention away from that person that created the original thread. You should ALWAYS create your own new posting. Feel free to include links to whatever else might help to describe your inquiry-du-jour.
