We are thinking to implement SSL encryption on our database.
We want Only the server authenticates itself to the client(actually its not oracle client,its a jdbc thin client).
Will configuring SSL on server alone do the cause or we need to configure it on client as well.

This is apparent from your description the server needs to identifiy itself with the client.
Obviously, it doesn't work that way.
Instead of asking volunteers to abstract the documentation for nothing, I recommend you read the Sqlnet reference manual for your unmentioned version of Oracle.
