I am trying to successfully hide and show fields based on the value of a clicked checkbox. I am using a dynamic action, but it isn't working.
I even tried a radio button, but it didn't work. I cannot uncheck the radio button. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help you can provide.
create a dynamic action for page load to hide the item which you wanna hide
now create another dynamic action
event : Click
Selection Type : Items
Items : P1_Check_box(name of the check box item)
condition : equal to
value : return value of the check box item (if you click the check box and the return value is 1 then just add 1)
in true actions
Action : Show
Selection Type : Items
Items : P1_Text_field(name of the field)
uncheck fire on page load
create exact opposite false action, that's it.
go to check box item edit page in that you will find list of values tab, in that tab u will find list of value definition text area box below that there will be a link "create or edit static list of values" when u click that link a popup window will appear in that set display value as Y and also return value as Y click apply, now when u click the check box the return value will be Y.
You seem to be reporting two problems here
1) The value of your checkbox does not change in session state - it doesn't need to for this dynamic action to work.
2) Your fields are not showing onChange. Do you have any conditions on your fields? If so, remove them. Does the reverse work? Can you make your field disappear onChange instead?
Have you changed the condition equal to value to Y in the dynamic actions if so then check whether Both the Values(i'e the value in the dynamic action condition and also the return value of the check box) are in same case either upper or lower, then also check whether you have applied any conditions for the field that you wanna show and hide.
Very useful information, all of the responses have been so helpful, and I am getting much closer to solving my problem. I have one question. When I click my radio button, I am unable to unclick it and make it be "blank" or "unclicked" again. I'd like to be able to click it and have the items disappear again once it's "unclicked". Is that doable? I know a checkbox you can check and uncheck.....
