    Imp problem

    HuaMin Chen

      Hi,

      How to resolve this?

      [oracle@localhost bin]$ imp 'mysch/mysch@xe as sysdba' file=/usr/share/mysch.dmp full=y

LRM-00108: invalid positional parameter value 'as'

IMP-00022: failed to process parameters, type 'IMP HELP=Y' for help

      IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

      [oracle@localhost bin]$ imp 'mysch/mysch@xe as sysdba' file=/usr/share/mysch.dmp full=y

LRM-00108: invalid positional parameter value 'as'

IMP-00022: failed to process parameters, type 'IMP HELP=Y' for help

      IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

the SYS account should only ever be used for database version upgrades.

There is no sys account used above.

            • 3. Re: Imp problem

              Wrong.

'As sysdba' means Oracle will connect as SYS.

Oracle recommends not using the SYS account for exports and imports.

If you insist on using this connect string, it should be

              "mysch\/mysch@xe as sysdba"

You didn't follow up what I wrote, didn't you?

Compare my commandline and yours and note the difference.

you should put a "\" ( escape the character"/" for unix) infront of your "/" in the command. You can read earlier solution provided carefully

Yes, I've already done that but I have got the same error.

Why do you really need to use "AS SYSDBA" ?

I cannot proceed with "imp" without "as sysdba". Thanks.

AS SYSDBA connect as the SYS schema.  Your command line indicates that you are attempting to import a dump file for the "mysch" schema.  So why not connect as "mysch" only ?
