    FDMEE and ODI

    user964802

      Hi

I have been told that ODI is installed (at least partially) with FDMEE.

Typically, we have configured a single master repository with multiple work repositories.  Is this still possible as I'm told the FDMEE install creates a master and work repository.

Can someone point me to the best practice for ODI life cycle management within FDMEE?

      Cheers

The ODI J2EE agent and console are automatically deployed and configured with FDMEE.

The ODI master/work repository are created in the same location as the FDMEE tables.

If you want to add additional work respositories then you should be able to.

          Cheers

            HI John

thanks for your response.  My follow up question is...if I have two dev EPM environments (eg Dev and Prod), do I maintain and use two FDM environments, or can I use one with an  extra work rep for dev work.

(i Have never used FDM before)

If you have two environments then usually you would have two separate FDM instances.

              Cheers

Thanks.  Although I'm still a little confused about migrating FDMEE artifacts between dev and prod.  I believe that LCM supports this, which is good.

But I am nervous.  What if I install the ODI studio and develop scenarios that don't conform to FDMEE/LCM?  Can I migrate them using classic ODI export/import without causing missing references? I'm thinking that could be difficult wtih 2 master repositories.

Apologies if I'm missing some fundamental point about FDMEE here.  I haven't seen it yet.

                Cheers

If you develop anything outside of FDMEE and in ODI then you will need to use the ODI mechanism to migrate and not LCM.

You will need to two master repositories if you have two instances of FDMEE as that is the way the configuration will work, what you do additionally to that is your choice.

I think it is probably best if you spend some time looking at FDMEE first.

                  Cheers
