Most probably you have backuped BUT you haven't fixed the repository connection. Under my opinion
1 - backup
2 - make a connection from Topology to your master_bck
3 - check work repo connection (it have to point to your work_bck)
4 - then run rcc.
Remember that if you are upgrading your prod work repo it could be usefull to clean some log, they are pretty useless after a migration and may take much time to upgrade them.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried several times now, to have a cloned copy created in our "dev" SQL server and then tried to create a new topology connection to it and then successfully run RCC against it. I did think that I did have it set-up at one point but the type of work repository was the execution type and so that may be the issue. I am also afraid that when I created a new work repository inaddition to the one that is alreasy attached to the master, that I could be deleting one that is already there, which I do not think is a huge deal since this is a clone of the original but as I have said, I am not very familar with ODI and just trying to upgrade this as I have already upgraded all the other components that we use. Thanks again for you reply it is much appreciated.
very glad you have solved. Please mark the question as closed
I have not solved my issue, I can not seem to get the RCC to run successfully against the new work and master that was cloned and moved over, I think there is something wrong with the new topology connection, so
I am not going to close this since I am still having trouble.
enter in your new master repo -> topology-> repository-> work repo. Is the connection right?
If i remember well into RCC you have to put some configuration file. Have you replaced the old one with your cloned info?
