    Apex Migration

    Schoudhury

      Hi Team.

      We have this  APEX setup

      1. DB 10.2.0.1 - Enterprise Edition

      2. Apex 3.2.1

      3. RHEL 4

Now we plan to move from Enterprise edtion DB to SE1 DB version .

So wanted some help , how should be going about doing this migration

      Will this plan work

      1. Install SE1 Db

      2. Install APEX 3.2.1 on the newly installed Db

      3. Export the imported Data from the old Db and put it in the new Db

      Please guide .

Also is there any kind of thing we need to take care when we use the new edition of Db

      Thanks

          3. move the data Old DB to New DB instance

Thanks Ramani for your quick reply.

We want to stick to same version of the Apex 3.2.1 .

Could you please also let me know, shall we export data first then do an APEX install, or first APEX and then data export to the new Db?

Also from Db point of view do we need to take care of any other thing before move the data back .

Also while  importing  the data from the old db , do we need to import only the schemas i.e APEX_030200, FLOWS_FILES & APEX_PUBLIC_USER , or we need to import some other also .

            Thanks

why still you try to keep old version(apex 3.x)?

              anyway..

new installation a to z(DB and apex) once done ,then you can transfer the data.

if new instance as same DB and apex ,then do the cold backup.does not care about apex_flow,files....ext.

              or

              what we are using....

old system data to export the complete schema which is using apex application

export the workspace from old system.

              ===

installed new instance as same old structure.then import the schema to new system.

import the workspace to new system.

now running the new instance as same old environment.

Ya i know, using the same old version of apex, doesnt sound very exciting, but that's how the requirement is .

Ok, so if i get your correct, we can do this

                1. DB install,

                2. then APEX install ,

                3. import the APEX related schemas

                4. Import the Workspace

                5. Compile invalids in the DB

We are mostly concerned about the DBA expect of this task, so wanted to get the DBA related info on this .

                Thanks

Don't forget that you may have to install/configure whatever listener you are using on the new system

Could you please let us know how to go about doing it .

Use the installation instructions.  Find out what listener you are using now and install/configure it on the new system
