Hi!

Did you try delete old configuration folders? Beware, It's include all properties, including connections, so have copy.

Location: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer

Hi AndreyDokuchaev,

Thanks for reply.

I deleted the above folder and it has made no difference, any other ideas ?..

May be incompatible java version? I use 1.7.0_25 64 bit.

I've trying everything I can think about around the java version.

  • Set the sqldeveloper.conf manually
  • set java_home environment var
  • Included the new java dir in PATH
  • Run as Administrator
  • Re-installed java a few times
  • Re-installed sqlDeveloper a few times
  • Ensure everything is 64bit.

So I'm out of ideas....

Did you try running the exe from the bin directory to get a cmd window running? You should be able to see in the application log then where it's getting stuck and you can report back with that info.

Progress !!!!!

When I copy my SQLDeveloper4 directory from my c:\ to my d:\ (Partition) it launched !!!!!

SQLDeveloper 3 launches fine from both drives.. it must be doing something in the background that I don't have permissions for on my c:\
