I want to use it like PL/SQL Validation "Function Returning Error Text"
want to return user friendly errors
Interesting that I was looking around for the same thing after seeing a Foreign Key violation in my application.
I found this article by Patrick Wolf:
APEX 4.1 – Error Handling Improvements – Part 1
I believe you need to be on 4.1 or later though.
Thank you I will check it out now..
Yes, that is great! Thank you...
I use dynamic actions with other things in my app...
I had implemented the error functionality as described in the article and it worked exactly as described. I'm not using Dynamic Actions for this though. I also created a maintenance page for adding additional constraint names to the lookup table and those custom error messages display perfectly as well. The only thing I changed in the function described is the name of it, that's it.
I'm using 4.1.1.00.23.
Hi Joe, hey after playing with it a while I debugged how it worked and saw that it was taking the first SQL code and using that to run through its functions.
The error handling in the application I have has a couple levels of ORA error codes before it got too my unique constraint error.
I have it working nice now and going to get it working nicer once I have more time to put into it.
Thank you very much, that actually solved the problem.
